Viva Tips 1

Greetings, everyone.... Really hope that everyone is in a good spirit...
I would like to share my slide for my PhD viva. It was more than 2 years ago, but I didn't give it much thought as I felt that there's nothing special about it...
until recently, a friend who is about to do her viva asked to see my viva slide... and told me how helpful it is to her.
I think most students make a bigggg mistake in pesenting info in their slides. powerpoint is supposed to be 'pointy' NOT 'texty'... but most present their slide in such a texty manner... sentence by sentences... in small writing that they bore the examiners and the chair person. they have read your thesis, so don't copy your thesis in your slide.
so, please don't do this in your slide. Let it be concise and compact and indirectly convince the examiners that it really is a piece of your own work. keep it to short and do not exceed the time limit.
I presented mine in exactly 20 mins, that the chairperson even congratulated me for the exact timing. and I didn't bore them with small fonts and texty slide. but summarize my background, gap, prob statement, LR into only 1 slide.
pls refer to the attached pictures. And if you find it helpful, then pls share it as often as you like.
p/s: I do not attach all slides here. Pls note that I started with my presentation outline...
then in the following slide, I summarized my chapter 1 and 2, elaborating on why I chose this topic, what's going on regarding the issue now that lead to the gap and ended with the prob statement. U really have to know what you are doing, then you can put the 2 chapters in only 1 slide.
Then I gave the definition of what is the main issue that I am studying... followed by the research objectives and my framework.
the next slide summarized my methodology...
*****not shown here are my results of the analysis.
then, how I summarized the objective, the result and the discussion... followed by the significance of the study.
so, that's it... hope it may help some of you.
Good luck with your journey... however bitter it could be at times, but you can still smell and feel its sweetness.
